Healing is all about realisation!

The first step towards our healing is to see the truth and be completely honest with ourselves. The mind often justifies our suffering with what others did or with something that happened that we may stop having the necessary awareness to realize where we may be also holding on to the suffering and playing a part in it.

The mind easily becomes attached to the stories it creates, and if we are totally absorbed by it, we start unconsciously feeding these stories and narratives, not realizing they’re harming us more than what is actually here in the present.

There are experiences we don’t find pleasant, or that we find painful and challenging. We shouldn’t reject or ignore those experiences and what we feel about them. A person or situation can hurt us, but when we hold on to that hurt, it is no longer about them, but about our willingness to let go and be free in the present.

It’s not about blaming ourselves either, as that would mean holding on to more judgments and narratives, but simply seeing with honesty where we may be holding on to a story that is recreating suffering, and where we can let go and be freer. After seeing the truth, knowing that now we have the choice to let go of what harms us, we free ourselves by forgiving. Forgiving what others do, knowing their actions come from their reaction to what they have within them, it’s about them, not about ourselves.

There’s nothing to be taken personally or to keep holding on to. And also, forgiving ourselves, for holding on so long to what harmed us, not realising we have the power to let it go. When we’re completely honest with ourselves, and open our hearts to forgive, healing happens smoothly.
